CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live returns for more revelry as CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and Bravo host extraordinaire Andy Cohen co-host the show for the ninth year in a row.
To promote the show, CNN strove to create a spot that was buzzy, fun and highly shareable while also highlighting the duo’s iconic friendship.
In “Puppets,” CNN leaned into Cooper and Cohen’s well-known personality traits. Cohen is the charismatic, relaxed and surprising friend who would literally bring look-alike puppets to a meeting. Cooper shows up as his rational, pensive and sometimes giggly self. CNN wanted the puppets to feel real, partnering with puppeteers that mirrored Cooper and Cohen’s voices and mannerisms, and fine-tuned the interactions in the edit for maximum comedy.
Through fun moments like this, CNN seeks to remind viewers how refreshing the duo are together, and that the audience’s new year will be welcomed with jokes, giggles and heartwarming camaraderie from the center of Times Square. Look for more spots with Cooper and Cohen in the coming days.
